Southeast Elementary Takes Broadway During Spring Concert!

It was "Lights, Camera, Action" for the percussion ensemble and choral groups at Frank J. Cannon Southeast Elementary School's 2023 spring concert, dedicated to the bright lights of Broadway.

The concert began with the percussion ensemble taking on the "1,2,3 Drum Improv" and finishing with a special song called "Rhythm Rascals." This number was choreographed courtesy of special guest John Sawicki, who has spent nearly two decades on Broadway with STOMP, a percussion-based show that wrapped up performances this year after a three-decade run in Manhattan.

The chorus took the stage next, preceded by a special performance of "This Is Me" from The Greatest Showman by ten talented members of the choir. Soloists were prevalent in many of the numbers by the chorus including the opening act of "Seize the Day" from Newsies, which also saw several feats of acrobatics along with singing. The choral group performed another hit from The Greatest Showman entitled "A Million Dreams" before wrapping up with a medley of songs from such shows as The Lion King and Annie as well as a closing number of "Seasons of Love" from Rent.
