Gilbert Keith Chesterton was born on May 29, 1874. He was an English writer, philosopher and art critic. Chesterton has been referred to as the "Prince of paradox." A paradox is when something runs contrary to one's expectation. Something that seems like it should be impossible, but it is possible. Chesterton died on June 14, 1936.

Week Three Begins!!!
Mrs. Beard

Welcome to room 30...

It appears that we will be out of school for an extended period (Gov. Cuomo has ordered schools closed through April 17, 2020).
We know what that looks like. We have been doing it for two weeks, and all of that needs to continue. In fact I will no longer give you suggestions. You will, for now on have assignments. I cannot say enough how important it is for you to take responsibility and follow through on the assignments put up on this site. I will be expecting you to show me your assignments with photos on the Remind app and there will be quizzes on work expected to be completed.

                                                                         March 31, 2020

Dear Parents and Friends,

I truly hope you are all in good health and good spirits in these uncertain times. While the schools continue to stay closed we are all expected to work from home. I know Mr. Loeschner has called and sent home letters outlining what the expectations of the district are. I will be posting assignments on this webpage as well as Remind. As always if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. You can email me at lbeard@bufsd.org or text me through the Remind app if you have it, if you don't have it please sign up by clicking "Useful Links" and then remind.

You may have noticed that under Fifth Grade Classes, there is a new "Learning from Home 2020" class. The fifth grade teachers got together and thought that it would be easier, since each class is following the same curriculum, if all the work and assignments are in a centralized location. Don't worry though our page will still be updated as needed and have work and assignments. Admittedly, most of it will be the same and if you are reading both you will realize that.

We are all trying to get through this new learning from home together. The schoolwork I am requesting is just a continuation of what we have done in school. It will keep you focused and utilize skills you have been taught and will need as you go through middle school and beyond.

I am adding a new page called Assignments. The assignments for the week can be found here. I will also add any links that may be needed on the same page to make it easier to eliminate switching back and forth between the Useful Links page and assignment page to find what you need. As you know all NYS Tests have been cancelled and the district is closed next week for Spring Break. I will not be posting assignments for next week.

To keep current and sharp for when we return to school or for when you enter sixth grade it is important to complete the assignments and to sign on and use the digital platforms. I cannot stress this enough. There will be accountability from here on regarding the work completed from home. Through my accounts I am able to check on your progress and attendance on all the digital assignments I have set forth so far. If for any reason you are unable to complete the work you need to contact me immediately and I will work with you.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Beard
