Southeast Elementary Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Southeast Elementary School celebrated National Hispanic Heritage Month on Friday, October 10, with a vibrant event honoring culture and identity.

Led by bilingual teachers, students shared heartfelt writing about what it means to be Hispanic American. They also presented “I Am” poems that reflected meaningful aspects of their culture and traditions.

The highlight of the day was a performance by COPA dancers, whose energy and grace captivated students. Many joined in singing along to popular Hispanic music, fully immersed in the celebration.

Special guests included Superintendent of Schools Wanda Ortiz-Rivera, Maria Rodriguez, assistant coordinator of ENL and bilingual programs, and Carlene Martinez, TOSA. Their presence added to the day’s significance for students and staff.

The celebration was a joyful tribute to heritage, identity and community.
